CURWENSVILLE – A two-vehicle accident in Curwensville resulted in minor injuries for those involved.
Clearfield-based state police reported that the accident occurred Monday at around 2:55 p.m. A 21-year-old Curwensville woman was traveling west on state Route 879/State Street and Thomas Bell of Harrisburg was traveling east.
The Curwensville woman reportedly fell asleep while she was rounding a right curve. She then crossed the center lines and entered the oncoming lane of traffic. Her vehicle then collided with the Bell vehicle head-on.
The Curwensville woman and Thomas Bell were transported to Clearfield Hospital by Curwensville and Clearfield Emergency Medical Services for treatment of minor injuries. Sara Bell, a passenger in Thomas Bell’s vehicle, also suffered minor injuries.
After investigating the collision police suspected the Curwensville woman of driving under the influence of illegal drugs. She was asked to submit to blood testing at Clearfield Hospital. Charges of DUI and related offenses are pending the results of the blood test.
Police were assisted by Curwensville Rescue Hose and Ladder Fire Department and EMS and Clearfield EMS.
