Lewistown– A week after upsetting one of the top teams in the state the Clearfield Bisons continue to roll. The visiting Bisons pasted the hometown Lewistown Panthers Friday night 56-25 in front of a small rain soaked crowd.
Once again it was the dynamic duo of Isaiah Morgan and Jarrin Campman leading the way for Clearfield. Morgan had a career night for the Bisons carrying the ball 22 times for 349 yards and 5 touchdowns. Morgan’s yardage and touchdowns for the game was more than he had total on the season.
“Isaiah had a really big game tonight. He was able to keep his stamina playing on both sides of the ball. I have to give him credit for playing a great game,” said Coach Janocko of his senior running back.
Though not having one of his monster stat games, Campman was still effective through both the air and ground. Campman finished the night with 12 carries for 163 yards and 2 touchdowns as well as completing 2 of 6 passes for 75 yards and a touchdown. Senior Brandon Sass hauled in the two Campman completions.
Clearfield got the scoring started on a 20 yard run from Morgan just minutes into the game. Lewistown was unable to move the ball on their first possession going three and out.
On the following possession Campman was intercepted on a fourth and long pass, fortunately for the Bisons the Panthers were unable to capitalize as Nick Redden and Robert Faust were able to sack Lewistown quarterback Connor Muir on fourth down.
On the Bisons next play from scrimmage Campman kept the ball himself and with the help of some tenacious blocking outran the Panther defense for an 85 yard touchdown run.
The Bisons would be in cruise control from that point on as Isaiah Morgan would rip off touchdown runs of 69,42,44,30 yards and Campman would add in with a 15 yard touchdown pass to Sass and a 1 yard touchdown run.
Lewistown was able to get on the board on their 5th possession of the game thanks to a 12 yard keeper by quarterback Connor Muir. Muir would also add runs of 6,6, and 3 yards for touchdowns.
Though giving up 21 points to a winless team may not seem noteworthy, the Bisons played solid defensively. Scott Nishida was able to come up with an interception on Lewistown’s 3rd possession, while Josh Rippey came up with a fumble on the following possession. Nick Redden also had a big night defensively coming up with 1.5 sacks while being in the backfield all night.
“Our defense was tired tonight, but they sucked it up. We are just tired and need rest after being on the field that long and that’s why we had some rough stretches. They had a good quarterback and we knew we’d have to contain him and we did,” said Janocko.
The Bisons will be back on the road again next week as they travel to Bald Eagle for a MAC conference game and look to continue their winning streak.
“We just need to get our legs under us and have a good week of practice this week and get ready to play Bald Eagle,” said Janocko after the game.
