CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield County Recreation and Tourism Authority continues preparation for the Appalachian Wagon Train, which will kick off at the Harmony Grange Fairgrounds and Harmony School on June 15.
There are going to be many opportunities for the public to participate in the festivities, which will take place throughout southern Clearfield County all week long.
After church on Sunday, the train will ride from the Fair Grounds to Westover for a chicken Bar-B-Que, and then return. There will be a press event and opening welcome ceremonies at 7 p.m. that evening. Of special interest during the evening ceremonies will be the county Farm Bureau’s introduction of a new Made in Clearfield County logo which will be used to identify items grown and made locally. The County Solid Waste Authority will also introduce it’s new portable recycling bins, which will help events not only raise funds for their cause, but help them be promoted by CCRTA as a Green Event.
The Clearfield County Commissioners have donated a County flag which will accompany the train throughout the trek, which ends at the Curwensville Moose Family Center.
