CLEARFIELD – State police in Clearfield reported a four-vehicle accident on Interstate 80 Tuesday that closed the eastbound lanes for five hours.
According to the report Donald Van Kelgren II of New Lenox, Ill. was traveling in the eastbound lane when he lost control of his truck. He traveled onto the north berm, struck the guide rails and then traveled across both eastbound lanes.
Upon traveling back onto the eastbound lanes Kelgren struck the rear of a vehicle operated by Jeremy Kaza of Punxsutawney. A vehicle driven by Edward Jacoby, hometown unknown, was traveling in the right eastbound lane and struck the trailer of Kelgren’s vehicle, causing both vehicles to jackknife. Randy Geyer of Bridgeville was also traveling eastbound. He attempted to avoid the trucks, traveled onto the south berm and struck the guide rail.
Jacoby reported suffering moderate injuries. No other drivers reported being injured.
Police were assisted by PennDOT, PEMA and the Lawrence Township Fire Department.
