DUBOIS – Clearfield County District Attorney William A. Shaw Jr. and the DuBois City Police Department announce that an arrest warrant has been issued for Michael D. Myers, 23, of Treasure Lake.
Shaw stated that Officer Randy Young filed a criminal complaint Tuesday morning charging Myers with the Feb. 28 robbery of the Uni-Mart store located at 2 N. Main St.in the City of DuBois. The same complaint also charges Myers with the March 7 robbery of the Choice store located at 100 W. DuBois Ave.
The criminal complaint charges Myers with two counts each of robbery, theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property. Myers is also charged with a single count of criminal conspiracy. Shaw stated the complaint was filed with Magisterial District Judge Richard Ireland who issued a warrant for Myers’ arrest.
Following a joint investigation with the Sandy Township Police Department and the DuBois City Police Department, Myers was located in Oregon where he is being held by officials on unrelated charges. Shaw stated Officer Young will have the arrest warrant transmitted to Oregon
and the district attorney’s office there will extradite Myers to Clearfield to answer the charges filed by Officer Young.
Extradition can take up to six months. However, Shaw stated this is an extremely important case, and every effort will be made to get Myers back to Clearfield County as quickly as possible.
Shaw stated that Officer Young did an outstanding job investigating these crimes and locating Myers.
“I know that Officer Young worked tirelessly on this difficult investigation and put in many hours of personal time to build this case,” Shaw said.
Shaw said the message is clear that we will pursue these types of crimes vigorously. Violent crime in our neighborhoods is unacceptable and Officer Young and the DuBois City Police Department and Sandy Township Police Department have done an outstanding job investigating this case and filing the appropriate charges.
