UNIVERSITY PARK – Penn State senior Mike Markovich, an information sciences and technology major, is scheduled to take his his turn on the nationally syndicated game show “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire,” hosted by Meredith Vieira Friday night.
Markovich and Penn State junior Aaron Wynkoop, both from southwestern Pennsylvania, originally were selected to compete for college tuition funds during a special “College Week” edition of the show in November 2006. Wynkoop’s turn aired on Nov. 20, but due to time constraints, Markovich’s appearance was rescheduled to air on Feb. 16. Their comments about auditioning for the show, and results from Wynkoop’s appearance, can be found online.
Markovich noted to show producers that if he won big on the show, he would take a spring break trip, pay off his loans and give to Penn State’s Dance Marathon (THON). Coincidentally, he will be dancing in the first hour of THON tonight when the show airs and likely won’t be able to watch his appearance on national television.
“Who Wants to Be a Millionaire” airs five nights a week; for local air times, visit the show’s Web site or check local listings for last-minute schedule changes.
For more information about THON — held this weekend, Feb. 16-18, inside University Park’s Bryce Jordan Center — or to donate online to the student-run philanthropy benefiting pediatric cancer research and patient care, visit THON’s Web site.
