CLEARFIELD – Democratic incumbent Treasurer Carol Fox announces her candidacy for re-election to a third term for the office of Clearfield County treasurer.

Fox has been with Clearfield County government since 1996. She served as deputy treasurer for two years, and then was promoted to acting treasurer for two years after the retirement of Eugene Tubbs. In 1999, and 2003 she was elected to serve four-year terms.

The county treasurer’s office receipts and maintains the deposits of all general fund monies. The office reconciles and receipts real estate tax reports with 50 municipal tax collectors. The office issues Small Games of Chance and Bingo licenses to qualifying non-profit county organizations.

The county treasurer also acts as an agent for the commonwealth of Pennsylvania. As an agent, the office issues dog license for the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture and hunting licenses for the Pennsylvania Game Commission, issues boat transfers, sells fishing licenses and issues sportsmen pistol permits.

The office recently upgraded computer systems to a windows based PALtracker licensing system. This system is a useful upgrade to help return lost dogs to their owners, and for information research for state and county enforcement officials.

The treasurer also sits on the county retirement board with the commissioners and the controller.

Carol has been a member of the county treasurer’s association of the commonwealth of Pennsylvania since 1996. During the years in the association, she has served as trustee for the Northwest region, served on the executive board, state dog law advisory board and the resolutions committee.

Growing up in southern Clearfield County, (Harmony) Burnside Township, she is the daughter of Elmer and June Hughes.

She is married to Brian, and they have two children, Mark and Cindy Fox.

“It has been a pleasure to serve as treasurer of Clearfield County. I have always tried to provide an efficient up-to-date office with a highly competent staff. I would appreciate voters’ support in the May 15 municipal primary election.”
