CLEARFIELD – Following Clearfield Borough’s regular meeting in January, reporters from GantDaily.com, The Courier-Express/Tri-County Sunday and wOK!w 102.9 FM challenged the council’s actions with regard to an executive session and a subsequent motion to sell two fire halls. The council cured the action, and now the council is following up on a pledge to learn more about the rules that govern public meetings, known as the Sunshine Act.
After the reporters approached the council, several representatives expressed a desire to receive training on the Sunshine Act.
The Pennsylvania Newspaper Association, of which GantDaily.com is a member, offered to hold a training seminar for Clearfield Borough council and any other interested entities concerning the Sunshine Act at 6:30 p.m. March 22. The session is being offered to not just the council but also members of the community, school board members and representatives from other local municipalities at no cost.
The meeting will tentatively be held at the Clearfield Borough building, but if attendance warrants, the meeting could be moved to another location within the borough.
Those who are interested in attending should e-mail Dawn Walls at GantDaily.com or call the office at 765-5256. Include any specific questions about the act that you would like to see discussed at the open session.
