HUSTON TOWNSHIP – Police have released the name of the man killed in a two-vehicle accident Tuesday in Centre County.
Bruce M. Bender, 56, of Bridgeville, was traveling south on state Route 220 in Huston Township, Centre County, at about 11:18 p.m. Tuesday when he traveled into the northbound lane, striking a vehicle operated by Alan J. Rishell, 50, of Julian.
Bender was pronounced dead at the scene by Centre County Coroner Scott Sayers.
Rishell was transported to Mount Nittany Medical Center for moderate injuries.
At the time of the accident, state police at Philipsburg say Bender was not wearing a seat belt. No seat belt information was supplied for Rishell.
Police had to close SR 220 for about three hours.
Troopers were assisted at the scene by Alpha Ambulance, Port Matilda Ambulance, Port Matilda Fire Co., Medic 24 and the state Department of Transportation.
