GROVE CITY, Pa. — Two former members of the Clearfield Area High School swimming and diving team earned points for Washington & Jefferson College in the Presidents\’ Athletic Conference Championships last weekend at Grove City College.
Ryan Sayers of Frenchville finished fourth in both diving events to account for 30 points. The sophomore totaled 319.60 points off the one-meter board and 313 off the three-meter board.
Freshman Nathan Taylor of Clearfield placed fifth in the 400-yard individual medley in 4:23.50, 10th in the 200 fly in 2:05.30 and 11th in the 200 individual medley in 2:04.14. He earned 27 team points.
The Presidents wound up third with 503.5 points. Westminster claimed the title with 964.5 points, and Grove City was second with 926. Trailing W & J were St. Vincent with 200 points and Bethany with 132.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Lehigh, the nation\’s No. 24-ranked team, handed Army a 28-6 Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association defeat Saturday afternoon in front of a packed Leeman-Turner Arena at Grace Hall.
Cadet 141-pounder Matt Kyler of Clearfield dropped a 10-4 decision to former Easton Area High School standout Matt Ciasulli, who had two takedowns and a turnover in the first period for a 6-1 lead. Ciasulli added another takedown in the middle period, and both wrestlers had escapes to make it 9-2. Kyler registered a takedown early in the third period, but Ciasulli escaped to set the final score.
Army, which will close its regular season Sunday against Navy in a 4 p.m. Senior Day match that will be shown tape-delayed on ESPNU, fell to 6-2 in the EIWA and 10-5 overall.

SELINSGROVE, Pa. — Clearfield native and DuBois Central Catholic High School graduate Ruth Williamson scored 10 points for the Selinsgrove University women\’s basketball team in tough losses to the Commonwealth Conference top two teams.
The Crusaders gave first-place Messiah, the nation\’s top-ranked Division III team, a battle before bowing 50-42 in a road game on Feb. 7 and then was edged 47-43 by visiting Albright Saturday after Williamson had tied the game at 43 by sinking two free throws with 1:26 left.
Susquehanna (13-10 overall, 4-8 in the conference) led Messiah (21-2, 11-1) 19-18 at the half and trailed only 34-31 midway through the second half. Williamson scored six points and grabbed two rebounds.
The junior guard had four points, two rebounds and one steal against Albright (16-7, 9-3).
Susquehanna still has an outside shot at the fourth and final spot in the conference playoffs, but must sweep this week\’s games at Juniata tonight and Lebanon Valley Saturday.

BEREA, Ohio — Westminster College sophomore Rebecca Shiner of Clearfield placed sixth in the 1,000-meter run at the Mid-February Indoor Track and Field Meet hosted by Baldwin-Wallace on Friday.
She also ran a leg for the Titans\’ \’B 1,600 relay foursome that finished third, beating the \’A\’ quartet.
