CLEARFIELD – Habitat for Humanity of Clearfield County inducted four new board members and re-elected 11 others at the group’s recent annual meeting held at the Clearfield County Career and Technology Center in Clearfield.
Taking the oath of office from Elmer Fulesday of Clearfield were new directors Ginny Johnson, Ann Dotsey and Gerry Hatcher, all of Clearfield, and Scott Streator of Treasure Lake.
Re-elected were President John Farr of DuBois; Vice President Dianne Bowser, Treasurer Dan Myers and Secretary Beth Hallstrom, all of Clearfield; and Janice Cannella, Christine Quashnock, Val Martenay, and Gregg Reese, all of DuBois; Linda Moore of Rockton and Kay Robison and Judy Mitchell, both of Clearfield.
Farr reviewed the affiliate’s 15-year history and noted completion of the latest project, a home on Clay Street in Clearfield’s East End, is approaching rapidly. Since the meeting, a family was selected for the home and members are working on the new owner’s 500 hours of sweat equity contribution.
Ground will be broken next on the group’s 10th project, on Pifer Street in DuBois.
“This will be our most ambitious schedule yet, thanks to a consortium of eight churches, lead by the Tri-County Church of God, that have pledged money and work crews. It should be an exciting summer,” he noted.
The affiliate has built homes for the past several years at the rate of one annually, due largely to a relationship with the CCCTC and its construction trade students, who work alongside HFH volunteers on the Clearfield projects.
“It is a blessing for us and gives the kids practical experience. It’s great when they come back as adult volunteer,” Farr added.
