JOHNSTOWN – Tired of the cold weather and below freezing temperatures around our region? Wish you were headed down south to a warmer climate?
American Red Cross Blood Services, Greater Alleghenies Region, is offering donors a chance to do just that.
Monday through Saturday, all presenting blood and platelet donors will be entered into a raffle to win two tickets to the Daytona 500.
The winner of the tickets will be drawn Feb. 12. The Daytona 500 is scheduled for Feb. 18 in Daytona. Travel and hotel accommodations are not included in this promotion, sponsored by a Greater Alleghenies Region T-shirt vendor.
People ages 17 or older, who weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health are eligible to donate blood or platelets.
To make an appointment to donate blood, donors may call 800-GIVE-LIFE or visit the Red Cross online. Walk-ins are also welcome.
Platelet donation centers across the region include those in Johnstown (250 Jari Drive), Beaver (133 Friendship Circle), Altoona (317 E. Pleasant Valley Blvd.), Greensburg (101 N. Main St. Suite 101) and State College (135 S. Pugh St.). Donors are asked to call in advance and make appointments to donate platelets.
