CLEARFIELD – An employee of the Road House in Kylertown waived his right to a preliminary hearing on charges that he stole money from the restaurant.
Matthew J. Anderson, 18, of Winburne, is alleged to have taken up to $680 from deposit bags and petty cash in the restaurant.
Court documents show that Anderson allegedly admitted to Morris-Cooper Police that he used a screwdriver to pry open an office door where safe keys were kept. He then said he took $300 from a safe.
Witnesses who spoke to police claimed Anderson took money from deposit bags and $80 from a petty cash bag.
Another restaurant employee said Anderson told him that he planned to rob the restaurant. The same man said Anderson showed him a game system and games that he purchased. The employee then went to a supervisor and told her of Anderson’s purchases, made the same day as the robbery.
Anderson is free on bail.
He faces charges including burglary, criminal trespass and theft by unlawful taking.
