DANVILLE — Clearfield split a swimming and diving dual meet at Danville last night.

The boys topped Danville by a 113-71 score, while the girls dropped their dual 111-75. The boys raised their season record to 7-1, while the girls fell to 5-3.

\”I think we did okay,\” said head swimming coach, Jackie Morrison of her teams’ performance.\” I’m not saying it was a poor performance, but it’s definitely not our best. It was right in the middle. We have better performances in us.\”

In the boy’s dual, the Bisons had two double winners including Mark Krchnak and Brandon Boyer.

Krchnak won the open 200 IM and open 100 breaststroke, while Boyer took the open 50 free and open 100 backstroke.

Morrison was impressed with Boyer’s performance when she said, \”Boyer swam really well in the 50 free and almost hit that 20-seond mark.\”

Other individual winners were Logan Shirey in the open 100 fly and Shay Flanagan in the open 500 free.

John Bodle had a strong performance, placing second in both the open 200 IM and open 100 fly, while Flanagan (open 200 free), Justin DeCasper (open 50 free), Chris Bodle (open 100 free), Shirey (open 100 breaststroke) and Steven Williams (one meter dive) also recorded second place finishes.

\”Shay really got pushed in the 200 free,\” said Morrison. \”He swam really well. Even though he took second, he still had a great time.\”

Chris Bodle (open 200 free), DeCasper (open 100 free), Brady Mulhollem (open 500 free), Kraig Peterson (open 100 backstroke) and Tyler Shaw (one meter dive) finished third for the Bisons.

In team events, Clearfield took both the open 200 medley and free relays, while swimming exhibition in the open 400 free. As a result, Danville received the team points for that event.

\”We did okay,\” said Morrison of the boy’s performance. \”I’m not saying it was our best meet. Danville had some great competition, but we had more depth in some of our performances. So, I think we did okay.\”

On the girl’s side, Chelsey Dufour was the only winner, taking the open 100 backstroke.

\”Chelsey was our only individual first and that can‘t be overlooked,\” said Morrison. \” She’s been very consistent in the 100 back and had a strong performance for us.\”

Placing second for Clearfield were Carolyn Shurer (open 200 and 500 free), Dufour (open 50 free), Shelbie King (open 100 fly), Jennifer Williams (one meter dive), Jaclyn Marsh (open 100 breaststroke) and Branda Smeltzer (open 100 free).

King (open 200 IM), Marisa Howell (open 100 free) and Christie Pizzella (one meter dive) took third.

In team events, the girls took the open 200 medley, while coming up short in the 200 and 400 free relays.

\”I think we could’ve done a little better,\” said Morrison. \”We had some descent performances, but, as a team, we didn’t perform well. I think if the girls had swam like they did against Bradford, it could’ve been a little closer.\”

Clearfield returns to action Monday night when the Bisons travel to DuBois. The meet is set for 6 p.m
