DUBOIS – DuBois Regional Medical Center has opened a new department completely devoted to women.
Women’s Health Center will be a growing part of DRMC that will focus upon promoting and maintaining the health and well-being of women through all life stages.
At this time, its main goal is to provide educational programs, information and referrals.
If any woman has a question about her health, she can call to get information and referrals to the right services to meet her individual need.
“DRMC is pleased to add this service to help women make more informed decisions about their health.” according to Raymond Graeca, president of DRMC. “DRMC wants to partner with women. Women make most of the healthcare decisions for their families, but often, women forego their own care.”
Lori Rancik, RN, is the first case manager for Women’s Health at DuBois Regional Medical Center, according to Judi Withers, Director of Women’s and Children’s Services at DRMC.
“We are pleased to have Lori as our case manager. Her background and talents will be an asset to this new and exciting time of growth for DRMC,” Withers said.
Rancik, a nurse for 25 years, is a 1984 graduate of Altoona Hospital School of Nursing. She received her bachelor’s degree in nursing in 2003 through the University of Phoenix.
She started her career in the former Maple Avenue Hospital’s emergency and maternity departments. She most recently worked for Dr. Renee Allenbaugh and Dr. Suzanne Scott and previously for Dr. John Bellomo at DRMC’s PCA Beaver Drive.
A resident and native of Grampian, Rancik lives with her husband Mike Rancik and their three children, Mary Beth, Katie and John.
“I am looking forward to the experience of helping to build the Women’s Health program at DRMC,” Rancik said.
Getting the right information out to women is truly important. There are many times that a woman may read a health-related story and think “that may be me,” according to Rancik, and now there is somewhere to turn to start taking action.
Rancik will be working closely with Debbie Marshall, clerical coordinator. Marshall has been with DRMC since 2000 and has worked in admissions and payroll departments. She previously worked in the offices of Penn Traffic and has an associate degree in business administration from Penn State.
A native of Luthersburg, Marshall lives in Luthersburg with her husband Steve Marshall and daughters, Pamela and Daniele.
DRMC’s Women’s Center will have its first community event with the Day of Dance for Cardiovascular Health. It will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 24 at DuBois Mall.
