HARRISBURG (PRNewswire-USNewswire) — Governor Edward G. Rendell and First Lady Judge Marjorie O. Rendell invite organizations
across the commonwealth to submit nominations for the 2007 Distinguished daughters of Pennsylvania, an honor recognizing the outstanding
achievements of women.
In 1949, the commonwealth began the custom of having the Governor designate several women annually as Distinguished Daughters of
Pennsylvania. Those selected to receive this honor are nominated every year by public-minded organizations.
Women recognized as Distinguished Daughters are those whose achievements on a national and statewide scale have been outstanding and
have brought honor and respect to the commonwealth. Their achievements may have been earned in any field of significant endeavor throughout the state, and often, beyond its borders.
Nomination forms, regulations and eligibility requirements can be obtained by visiting the Pennsylvania Commission on Women’s Web site,

A nominee who no longer lives in the state must have been born in Pennsylvania. A nominee is eligible if she was not born in Pennsylvania,
but has achieved significant accomplishments while living in the commonwealth. A woman who is a declared candidate for public office is not
eligible. Two copies of the nomination form, along with two copies of a recent head photo of the nominee should be mailed to: Nancy M. Neuman, president, 190 Verna Rd., Lewisburg, PA 17837, prior to March 15, 2007. If this deadline cannot be met, materials should be held for submission next year.
