CURWENSVILLE – Sam Maney of Walter Hopkins and Associates gave the Curwensville School District Board of Directors some good news on Monday night. According to Maney, the district passed their audit, garnering the very best opinion that could be issued.
Maney said he found no discrepancies in the three areas that were audited. He added that the cafeteria was profitable, but not too profitable.
Maney also added that in his opinion the school “is very sound and had a very good fiscal year.”
For the fiscal year that ended on June 30, the district had total revenues of $13,264,906, with expenditures of $12,729,679, leaving the school with a surplus of $535,227.
According to Maney, the surplus could be attributed to major cost savings in the Central Intermediate Unit contracted services by the district having their own personnel perform CIU duties as well as the careful administration of ACCESS/IDEA federal programs.
“It’s a pleasure to come up and work…with the administration,” said Maney.
