CLEARFIELD – The Rehabilitation Department of Clearfield Hospital, located on the second floor of the hospital, is offering two smoking cessation programs this month.
The first one will take place Jan. 25 at 5:30 p.m.
Clear the Air: You Can Quit Tobacco, is a one-session program, approximately two hours in length, for individuals who are thinking about or are preparing to quit smoking or chewing tobacco.
The purpose of the program is to help participants overcome their ambivalence related to changing their behavior. Shelley Spicher, certified smoking cessation facilitator, will discuss the benefits of quitting tobacco, motivation to quit and tools and resources available to help.
The second program is the American Lung Association’s “Freedom from Smoking” smoking cessation course. This course begins Jan. 30 at 5:30 p.m., and consists of eight classes designed to aid the participant in the quitting process.
The class focus is on setting a quit date, education on nicotine replacement therapies, stress relief, nutrition and exercise.
There is no cost to attend Clear the Air or Freedom from Smoking. For more information, call the Rehabilitation Department at 768-2406 or e-mail rehab@clearfieldhosp.org.
