Hyde — Clearfield’s Girl’s and Boy’s Swimming and Diving team swept DuBois on Monday night in dual meet competition.

The girls won by a 123-60 score, while the boys’ final read 121-59. The girls evened their record at 2-2 with the boys upping their record to 3-1 on the season.

“After Saturday, I wasn’t sure what to expect,” said head coach, Jackie Morrison. “We had a pretty good meet and both teams swam great tonight.”

In the girl’s dual, the Bison had three double winners in the pool including Carolyn Shurer, Shelbie King and Chelsey Dufour.

Shurer won the open 200 and 500 freestyle, while King captured the open 200 IM and the open 200 fly and Dufour took the open 50 free and the open 100 backstroke.

Other individual winners were Jennifer Williams in the one meter dive, Marisa Howell in the open 100 free and Tessa Tkacik in the open 100 breaststroke.

The Lady Bison had strong individual performances, as six more finished second in the pool.

Branda Smeltzer posted second place finishes in both the open 100 and 200 freestyle.

Also finishing second were Jaclyn Marsh (open 200 IM), Brandie Centi (open 50 free), Christie Pizzella (one meter dive), Marisa Howell (open 100 back) and Allison White (open 100 breaststroke).

The Lady Bison received third place finishes from Amber Centi (one meter dive), White (open 500 free) and Marsh (open 100 breaststroke).

However, the girls not only swam well individually, but also swam well together in team events.

Clearfield won both the open 200 medley relay and the open 200 free.

Morrison was impressed with her girls’ team efforts when she said, “My 200 medley relay team in King, Marsh, Smeltzer and Shurer really swam well together. Their time was the fastest relay of the season, and really blew the old time out of the water.”

On the boy’s side, the Bison had a pair of double winners in Shay Flanagan and Mark Krchnak.

Flanagan won the open 200 free and open 100 backstroke, while Krchnak took the open 200 IM and open 100 breaststroke.

Also winning events were Logan Shirey (open 100 fly), Brady Mulhollem (open 500 free) and Steven Williams (one meter dive), while Brandon Boyer tied for first in the open 100 free.

According to Morrison, the boys open 500 free proved exciting as two Bisons battled for first. “Brady Muhollem and Chris Bodle swam really well, but Brady stuck right there with Chris and beat him at the end.”

Bison Chris Bodle had a pair of second place finishes in the open 500 free and the open 100 backstroke.

Five others earned second place finishes for Clearfield including Muhollem (open 200 free), Shirey (open 200 IM), Boyer (open 50 free), Tim Shaw (one meter dive) and John Bodle (open 100 fly).

Taking third for the boys were Kraig Peterson (Open 200 IM), John Bodle (Open 50 free) and Justin DeCasper (open 100 free).

In team events, the boys won the open 200 medley and the open 200 free.

However, in both the boy’s and girl’s duals, the open 400 free served as an exhibition with DuBois receiving all the points.

Clearfield is back in action Thursday when the Bisons travel to Brookville. The meet is set for 6 p.m.
