Feature Game of the Week Preview: Clearfield (2-1) vs. St. Marys (1-2)

This week\’s GantDaily.com Game of the Week features a pair of streaking teams.
The Clearfield Bisons (2-1) are coming off consecutive victories, while the St. Marys Flying Dutch are coming off a pair of losses. The two meet tonight at Arthur J. Weiss Gymnasium at the Clearfield Area High School. Junior varsity action tips off at 6 p.m., with varsity action to follow.
The Bisons opened the season with a 40-35 loss to Philipsburg-Osceola in the Keystone Tip-Off Tournament, but bounced back with a 53-42 win over District 9 League-rival DuBois in the consolation game. Clearfield scored a 59-39 win over Bald Eagle Area, and is seeking a three-game win streak.
Mike Johnson has been a key part of the Clearfield attack as he scored 12 points against P-O and added 14 against DuBois. James Zimmerman stepped up with a 14-point effort against DuBois.
The Flying Dutch, meanwhile enter the game riding a two-game losing streak. St. Marys opened the season with a 62-58 win over State College in the opening round of the Skip Coleman Invitational Tournament, but fell to Upper Darby, 93-70, in the championship game.
Louie Pisani and Levi Welder led the Dutch through the tournament as both were selected to the all-tournament team. Pisani scored 21 points against host State College and followed with a 30-point effort against the Royals. Welder scored 18 against State College and 12 against Upper Darby.
St. Marys lost a close one to Bellefonte last week, 66-61, and enter tonight\’s matchup with the Bisons looking for their second victory in the young season.
