CLEARFIELD – A Clearfield man accused of stealing thousands of dollars in cash from a relative had a preliminary hearing on on Wednesday.
Michael Blasko, 20, is charged with theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property.
Blasko’s relative took the stand and related that one day when she went to get money out of her cash box, all but $700 was gone. She related that there should have been between $7,000 to $10,000 in the box. She also stated that she is the only one with a key to the box, which she sometimes keeps hidden.
State trooper Mary McGinnis testified that she interviewed Blasko on Nov. 8 and that he admitted to taking $3,000. McGinnis said that Blasko gave a written statement admitting the amount as well. She said that Blasko told her he took the money because he felt it was owed to him because for emotional abuse the relative put him through.
All charges were held to court and Blasko is in Clearfield County Jail in lieu of $5,000 straight bail.
