JEFFERSON COUNTY – State police at DuBois investigated two accidents on Interstate 80 Monday in Washington Township, Jefferson County.
The first happened at about 1:45 p.m. when a deer ran into the path of Gerard Russell, 58, of Lake Ariel. He was unable to avoid the animal. After the accident, he pulled his vehicle to the berm.
Both Russell and a passenger in his vehicle were wearing seat belts. Russell suffered cuts on his arm, and the passenger was not injured.
At about 2:10 p.m., Erin Shofestall, 32, of Summerville, did not see traffic stopping, hitting the rear of a vehicle driven by Jacquelynn Kline, 25, of Meadville.
Both cars were able to pull of the roadway.
Neither Shofestall, nor Kline were injured. Both were wearing seat belts.
Police were assisted at the scene by the Falls Creek Fire Department and DuSan Ambulance.
