CLEARFIELD – The Friends of the Shaw Public Library and The Clearfield Area Woman’s Club have joined together once again to help the community during the holiday season. This year the groups have selected the Marion House of Clearfield to be the benefactor of the holiday amnesty at the Joseph & Elizabeth Shaw Public Library in Clearfield.
From Nov. 20 through Dec. 20, any patron returning overdue books during the amnesty period has the option to have the fines waived. Shaw Public Library card holders who would like to take advantage of this opportunity to return overdue library materials and assist Marion House of Clearfield simply needs to stop by the library during the amnesty with one non-perishable food item, toiletry item, feminine hygiene product, laundry item or diapers for each overdue item that they are returning. All items will be placed under the Holiday Project Tree located in the youth wing of the Library and project representatives will deliver the donations to Marion House before Christmas.
Individuals may return overdue books, videos and DVDs, and audio books with one item listed above for each overdue material, however, library card account balances in the form of fines, replacement fees, service charges, etc. will not be eligible for the amnesty.
“I would like to encourage anyone in community that has overdue materials to take advantage of this opportunity to return those items and help Marion House at the same time,” stated Paula Marshall, Library Director, “It is such an important service for our community.” Also, anyone who would like to make a donation to Marion House that does not have outstanding items is welcome to do so.

The Shaw Public Library is open on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m., Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.
