READING — Quarterback Tanner Kelly of Clearfield turned in another outstanding performance for the Albright College gridders Saturday, but his four touchdown passes weren\’t enough to offset an even better show by Lebanon Valley\’s Dan Kelly, who passed for five touchdowns and ran for another in a wild 55-33 Middle Atlantic Conference win over the Lions at Shirk Stadium.
A crowd of 2,641 fans saw Tanner Kelly complete 24 of 31 passes for 328 yards, 74 on the regular season finale\’s first play for an Albright TD. His next two scoring passes cut Lebanon Valley leads to 28-20 and 34-27, but the visitors expanded their cushion to 48-27 before Kelly added his final TD aerial.
The Lions\’ redshirt freshman, who was intercepted once, also netted 14 yards rushing on seven plays and punted four times for a 33.8-yard average.
Dan Kelly connected on 21 of 26 passes for 430 yards as Lebanon Valley wrapped up its first winning season since 1992 at 6-4, including 5-4 in the MAC. Adam Brossman hauled in 14 of those aerials for 337 yards and three touchdowns to earn MAC Player of the Week honors.
Albright finished 2-7 in the MAC and 2-8 overall.
Tanner Kelly, a Clearfield Area High School graduate who didn\’t step into the starting role for the Lions until the fourth game, wound up the leading passer in the MAC with 167 completions, 2,075 yards and 230.6 yards per game. He was second in attempts with 262 and touchdowns with 19. He suffered only six interceptions.
Kelly ran for 234 yards and topped the conference in total offense with 326 plays for 2,309 yards, a 256.6 average.

SHIPPENSBURG — Right halfback Dave Richards of Clearfield punctuated his junior season at Shippensburg University with an exclamation point as he ran for 106 yards and a touchdown in the Red Raiders\’ 35-10 victory over Clarion in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference game before a Senior Day crowd of 3,401 at Seth Grove Stadium Saturday.
The former Clearfield Area High School star had only nine carries, including a season-long 42-yard run that ignited Shippensburg\’s final scoring drive. His 22-yard TD had given the hosts a 21-3 lead late in the third quarter.
The Red Raiders evened their PSAC West Division record at 3-3 and finished 5-6 for the season. Clarion (1-10) lost all six PSAC-West games.
Richards was third on the team in rushing with 72 carries for 420 yards, a 5.8 average, and two touchdowns, caught 13 passes for 152 yards and returned three kickoffs for 32 yards. His 604 all-purpose yards were third-best on the team.

HUNTINGDON — Beau Ryan of Clearfield saw action as a nickel defensive back Saturday as Juniata College closed the 2006 football season with a 39-31 Middle Atlantic Conference win over FDU-Florham in front of 1,800 fans on Senior Day at Knox Stadium.
The freshman defensive back had four solo tackles and two assists in nine games for the 2-8 Eagles, who ended their final year in the MAC with 2-7 record. Juniata will begin play in the Centennial Conference in 2007.

NOTRE DAME, Ind. — Freshman freestyle sprinter John Lytle of Clearfield swam on four winning relay teams and won an individual event for the University of Notre Dame men\’s swimming team in victories over Michigan State 165-75 Friday evening and Pittsburgh 172-126 Saturday afternoon.
He anchored the Fighting Irish\’s medley relay teams, posting a 46.17-second leg for the 400 foursome against the Spartans and a 20.70-second leg for the 200 quarter against the Panthers.
Lytle won the 200 free in 1:41:43 against Pitt and was second in the 100 free against Michigan State.
Notre Dame is off to its first 4-0 start since 1992-93.

AKRON, Ohio — Stacy Ogden of Clearfield was a point-winner in four events for the Clarion University women\’s swimming team in a quadrangular meet Saturday, the Golden Eagles beating Duquesne 155.5-135.5 and losing to Oakland 174-112 and host Akron 183.5-114.5.
Her 53.69-second anchor leg was the fastest for the Clarion \’A\’ 400-yard freestyle relay team that won against Duquesne and finished behind the other two teams.
Ogden, a senior, was fifth overall in the 100 backstroke, good for second-place points against Duquesne, third against Oakland and fourth against Akron. She was eighth in the 50 free to place third against Akron, fourth against Duquesne and fifth against Akron. She was 11th in the 200 back to place fourth against Duquesne, fifth against Akron and sixth against Oakland.

MOUNT UNION, Ohio — Two Clearfield Area High School graduates earned points for the Washington & Jefferson College men\’s swimming team in a 133-86 win on Nov. 8.
Freshman Nathan Taylor placed fourth in the 200-yard individual medley, while sophomore Ryan Sayers was third in both of the one-meter diving events.
