CLEARFIELD – Clearfield Borough was approved for a $29,300 state grant to purchase the Bucky Strunk Memorial Softball Field at Sixth Street and Arnold Avenue, and the check was delivered to town last weekend.
“The borough council and the mayor deserve congratulations for seizing this opportunity,” state Rep. Camille “Bud” George, D-74 of Houtzdale, said. “I was informed that the borough plans to pursue other grants to make improvements to the ball field.”
Funding to purchase the 1.5-acre site was made possible through the Community Conservation Partnerships Program, which is administered by the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.
In July, Clearfield Borough was also approved for an $18,500 CCPP grant to develop a master plan for a 10-acre, riverfront recreation area.
