HARRISBURG – State Rep. Camille “Bud” George, D-74 of Houtzdale, said his amendment enabling Pine Township to obtain almost 2.5 acres for a township building and storage area was approved unanimously by the state House of Representatives.

“The amendment allows the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources to lease the land to the township for $1 a year for 99 years,” George said. “It’s been a two-year process, but the supervisors are now much closer to having a township building.”

George said the supervisors have been meeting in the DCNR forestry building along Four Mile Road, which is about a quarter-mile from the site where the township building will be built. The site also will include space to store highway materials.

George said the DCNR, which owns much of the land in the township, cooperated fully with the township’s request for land.

The amendment is attached to House Bill 2729, which also was approved and sent to the state Senate for consideration.
