CLEARFIELD – People from around the area showed up to lend their support for older residents of Clearfield at the Anne S. Thacik Auction on Thursday night at the Knights of Columbus.
Items up for auction ran the gamut, from Pittsburgh Pirate tickets to the chance to “name your own wine.”
Joan McMillen said the turnout was really good.
“There’s a lot of people and a lot of interesting items,” said McMillen.
“It’s a class event,” said John Kordish, executive director for the Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging Inc.
“Anne Thacik was instrumental as an advocate for the elderly,” said Kordish during his speech before the auction.
Kordish noted that every dollar raised at the auction stays to help the CCAAA. This year, proceeds will help with a bypass loading area project at the Meal Production and Distribution Center, where all of the county’s Meals on Wheels meals are prepared.
Richard Hansel was at the event to support a good cause.
“It’s our first time here,” said Hansel of he and his wife.
Janice Aleksivich, director of the Clearfield Chamber of Commerce was there because she loves the event, the tenth she has attended.
“It’s a great cause and a great event,” said Aleksivich.
