Cold temperatures are creeping into the region, and the Pennsylvania State Snowmobile Association wants you to know that it is time to THINK SNOW!
Snowmobile safety courses are offered free of charge and are held throughout Pennsylvania.
When snowmobiling season begins, courses will become very limited, as state-certified instructors are snowmobilers and want to ride, too, according to the association. Therefore, PSSA urges parents with children between the ages of 10 and 16 to plan ahead and find a class as soon as possible.
While adults are invited to attend, Pennsylvania law requires safety certification for children between the ages of 10 and 16 to operate a snowmobile on land that is not leased or owned by a parent or guardian. Children must carry their completion certificate with them at all times.

Snowmobile season on state park and state forest lands begins the day after antlerless deer season ends and runs through April 1. Riding on state game lands, where permitted, is open beginning on the third Sunday of January.
