PHILIPSBURG – A Morrisdale man is in Centre County Prison in lieu of bail after he allegedly attempting to fill bogus prescriptions.

Jeremy M. Zelenky, 20, was reported to have called various pharmacies in Clearfield and Centre counties on Aug. 16 posing as a doctor. During the calls, he used the doctors’ identifying information while “prescribing” controlled substances. On Aug. 17, members of the Troop G Vice and Narcotic Unit along with troopers from the state police barracks at Philipsburg began a surveillance operation at the Moshannon Valley Pharmacy in Rush Township, Centre County.

Zelenky and a female juvenile were taken into custody when they attempted to pick up one of the call-in prescriptions.

On Sept. 22, Zelenky was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Allen Sinclair on charges of acquisition of a controlled substance, identity theft (five counts), corruption of minors (two counts), criminal attempt to commit acquisition of a controlled substance by fraud (four counts) and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Zelenky waived his right to a preliminary hearing last week, but police released information on the incident Tuesday.
