HESSTON, PA – Khi Swanger picked up his first career Sheffield\’s Auto Sales Street Stock feature Saturday night at Hesston Speedway on Rick Hoover Logging Night.
Repeat winners included Shawn Bilger in the George\’s Used Cars Limited Late Models, Ritchie Fitz in the Richey?s Well Drilling PA 305 Sprints and Curtis Heath in the Dively?s Auto Body Hobby Stocks.
The limited late model feature was a survival of the fittest with Rance Garlock and George Dixon Jr. on the front row. Dixon led three quarters of the first lap before Rance Garlock made it to the lead in turns three and four. Garlock set the pace until lap nine when a puff of smoke and steam billowed from his car in turn three, ending his night.
This gave the lead to second place Bob Dunn with Tim Smith second. The front two were fighting hard for the lead when they touched in turn two, sending both to the pits and out of action. This gave the lead to Shawn Bilger who was able to hold off Dave Sokoloski for the win. Shawn Jones, Mike Duck and Dave Graber completed the top five. Bob Dunn, Matt Parks and Tim Smith won the preliminary races.
The sprint feature saw Steve Majestic flip off the first turn at the start and end un in the bushes, he was not injured. The complete restart saw Chad Myers take the lead. He was pulling away from the field when a flat tire slowed him on lap 10. This gave the lead to Joe Biasi but he lost that four laps later When Ritchie Fitz made a pass in the third and fourth turns. As the race continued Fitz pulled away for his fourth win of the season. Biasi was second with Ryan Hagan, Dusty Shatzer and Roger Irvine completing the top five.
Heat wins went to Joe Zap, Richie Fitz and Lee Cavalet Cris Edwards Jr. and Khi Swanger led the street stocks to the start with Swanger taking the lead and Edwards falling into second. Dave Swanger moved into third to fight Edwards and his son, Khi, for the top spot, but the top three
were under the proverbial blanket as Bill Heffner helped mix it up, but Khi Swanger was staying tough. The fight for first continued with Edwards trying to get past the leader, but Swanger was not to be denied his first career win. Edwards, Dave Swanger, Heffner and Ken Taylor completed the top five. Bill Henney, Bill Heffner and Khi Swanger split the heats.
Curtis Heath beat Charlie Walter off the line to start the hobby feature and he held him off the whole time. The fight for first was close with Heath, Walter, Jason Wright, Joe Dearmitt and Junior Guyer all in position to win, but when the checkered flag and the post race techs were done the top five were Heath, Walter, Keith Russell, Joe Hammers and Bill Replogle completing the top five. Heat wins went to Bill Replogle, Charlie Walter and Curtis Heath.
