Clearfield County Woman Wins Car at Fair

CLEARFIELD – After the fair closes and the last candy apple has been sold and the final midway game is played, seemingly everyone in the driving park heads toward the Clearfield Borough Fire Co. booth to find out who won the car.

This year, that person hails from Clearfield County. Daphine Hunt’s full address wasn’t available, but those in the car booth noted that she lives on the Shawville Highway. Hunt will be able to choose one of 10 grand prizes including cars, trucks, vehicle packages or $18,000 in cash.

Second prize, a computer supplied by Eagle Haven Computers Inc., was won by Barbara Deshler of Titusville, and third prize at the car booth, a 51-inch widescreen projection high-definition television, was won by Sue Winters. Winters’ address was not available, but the telephone number on the ticket was an Osceola Mills exchange.

At the Lawrence Township Fire Co. No. 1, a 1993 90th anniversary Heritage Classic Nostalgia “MooGlide” or “CowGlide” Harley Davidson was given away. That bike was won by Robert Talenti who is currently serving in the U.S. Air Force in Norway. Talenti hails from Irwin.

The GFWC Woman’s Club of Curwensville drew for a $1,000 savings bond, which went to Parker Wood of Curwensville. Second prize, an entertainment center, went to Sara Rowles of Clearfield, and third prize, a 9-inch television/DVD player, was won by Don McGonigal of Hyde.

Finally, the John Lewis Shade American Legion, Post No. 6, of Clearfield, gave away eight prizes.

First prize, a wall clock from Zalno’s Jewelers, was won by Morris Anderson of Bellefonte. Second prize went to Pat Deitz of Chicora. Dietz won an oak corner cupboard. Third prize at the booth, a Kenmore freezer, was won by Lorena Dixon who has a Curwensville area telephone number. Fourth prize went to Joy Hunter of Tyrone. She won a 27-inch Philips color television from Thompson and Buck of Clearfield.

Fifth prize went to Kenny Smeal who has a Woodland area telephone number. He won a leather La-Z-Boy from Rowles Family Furniture of Clearfield. Sixth prize, his and hers bikes from Wal-Mart, went to Tom Fulare, who has a Houtzdale area telephone number. Seventh prize, a Multi-Pure water system from Proud Multi-Pure Water of Clearfield, was won by Yvonne Stewart who has a Curwensville area number. Eighth prize, a wood windmill from Ron Lippart Sales on Litz Bridge in Clearfield, went to Edward Traister of Clearfield.
