RIDGWAY – If you didn’t take a look around, you might not know that Pennsylvania is home to many fine wineries and breweries.
The Ridgway Heritage Council and the Ridgway-Elk County Chamber of Commerce is highlighting these businesses this weekend as they offer people a change to do some “Tasting in the Wilds.”
On Saturday from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m., the Ridgway Firemen’s Grounds will welcome wine- and beer-lovers from all over Central Pennsylvania as they sample products from local favorites such as Straub from St. Marys and Starr Hill Winery in Curwensville.
Admission is $20 at the gate, and proper identification must be presented to taste alcoholic beverages. For those who are not tasting, admission is $5; children under the age of 12 admitted for free.
Artisans and other demonstrators will be on hand to entertain crowds throughout the day. Live entertainment from Van Wagner, Beaver Creek Blue Grass Band and Rusty Gun Revival will be provided throughout the day.
Other breweries and wineries scheduled to be at the event include Bastress Mountain Winery of Williamsport; Bullfrog Brewery of Williamsport; Ellicottville Brewing Co. of Ellicottville, N.Y; Flickerwood Wine Cellars of Kane; Four Sons Brewery of Titusville; Johnstown Brewing Co. of Johnstown; Laurel Mountain Vineyard of Falls Creek; Mount Nittany Winery of Centre Hall; Otto’s Pub & Brewery of State College; and The Winery at Wilcox of Wilcox.
