CLEARFIELD – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation issued the following update for the state Route 879 project in Clearfield.
Beginning Monday, July 10, the Clearfield bypass will be closed between Park Avenue exit and the U.S. Route 322 (Bigler Avenue) exit. The closure is expected to last approximately two weeks, and traffic will be detoured around the closure.
Crews from project contractor, HRI, will perform roadwork around the clock during the closure and flaggers will be in place on South Second Street and Park Avenue during daylight hours and possibly beyond daylight.
Westbound traffic will be directed at the SR 879 and U.S. 322 interchange to follow Bigler Avenue to North Front Street then to South Second Street before coming back onto SR 879.
Eastbound traffic will be directed at the Hyde traffic signal on SR 879 to follow South Second Street to Bigler Avenue before coming back onto SR 879 near the Clearfield Mall.
All project work is being coordinated so that it does not interfere with popular local events such as the Clearfield County Fair.
PennDOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, follow detour directions and signs, obey posted speed limits and to alway buckle up.
